West End Day School is an independent school for bright students with vulnerabilities in their learning and/or social-emotional world that can make mainstream education a challenge. While each student has a unique learning profile, our typical students range from average to gifted intelligence. We often see students who have varied learning and social-emotional challenges, such as attention and focus issues, anxiety, mild to moderate learning challenges, and executive functioning weaknesses. We work to understand and tease out these challenges and provide appropriate support for each student.
We have a rolling admissions policy and accept applications throughout the year. While we do not have application deadlines, it is beneficial to submit your application as early as possible due to our small class sizes which offer limited space. Depending on the age of your child and potential classroom fit, we do accept students during the school year. If you are interested in a mid-year placement, please indicate that on your application.
Our class size ranges from 8-10 students with two teachers. Our Head Teachers all have a Master’s Degree in Special Education and our Associate Teachers either have their Master’s or are currently working toward getting their Master’s.
Services include Counseling, Speech/Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy (focusing mostly on fine motor and handwriting). All services are provided either individually or in a group setting, depending on the needs of the individual student.
